Founder of Family Tree, Lainey Smallwood -Pedley is a Doctor of Chinese Medicine, Registered Midwife and Nurse. Her motivation is about assisting women and their families to achieve optimal mental and physical health. For the past 20 years she has assisted women and their families through various transitions in their lives. Whether it be the birth of a new baby, the challenge of infertility or the fight against cancer she has a clinical yet nurturing approach to her care.
She confidently supports the needs of all throughout the ages from babies to the elderly, using acupuncture and Chinese medicine therapies to successfully treat many areas of physical and mental health concern. Lainey’s acupuncture technique is gentle and effective and may incorporate cupping, moxibustion (heat therapy), dietary therapy and lifestyle advice to restore the body’s natural balance.
As a speaker at three large tertiary hospitals, she provides excellence in education to midwives and practitioners alike. She runs Birthing Workshops and has been a HypnoBirthing, then Calmbirth practitioner for 15 years.
She has extensive experience working with women whose pregnancies are considered high risk. Family Tree has a close rapport with allied health and medical specialists on the Mornington peninsula, Bayside and South eastern suburbs. These trusted relationships have helped to generate an integrated approach to women’s health.
